BANKRUPT grew up in the San Fernando Valley with music coming at him from every direction. His mom was playing oldies, techno, and pop. His dad was on hip-hop, rap, and gangster rap. Hearing all of it early — really hearing it — left a mark. It was always something he wanted to be part of, somehow, some way.
It started at 12 with Guitar Hero. Then DJ Hero. And somewhere between pressing buttons and pretending to scratch, something clicked for real — he wanted to be a DJ. He worked at it, spent years behind the decks, and eventually made the move into producing in 2019.
In TAKA, BANKRUPT is the one making the beats, digging for samples, and DJing their events. His favorite thing in the studio is what happens when a group of friends sits down with no plan — when you end up with a record you never could have predicted, something that didn’t exist until that exact moment. And behind the decks, it’s simpler: read the room, control the crowd, and know they’re having the time of their lives. That’s the whole thing.
