Roberto Castillo — known as BETO — grew up in South Central, Los Angeles. He picked up the bass at 8 years old, drawn to the feel of it before he had the words to explain why. Over the years he kept going — other instruments, other sounds — and by 15 he was producing. It wasn’t a decision so much as an inevitability.
BETO does it all: producing, songwriting, creative direction, and whatever else a record needs. His approach has always come back to one idea — the ability to make something from nothing. Starting with a blank session and building something that actually moves people is what keeps him in the studio. That’s what music is, to him.
His goals are direct: work hard, stay intentional, and build something real through music — for himself, for the people around him, and for the community he comes from. With TAKA, he’s found a place where that’s not just possible, it’s the whole point.
